Covenanters Cottage, West Linton
An isolated, luxury rental situated far along a dirt track with three gates (be sure to bring a passenger and boots...) It has a wonderful feeling of seclusion, and yet it has wide open views of the rolling, Peebleshire countryside and is barely 25 minutes from Edinburgh.
This exquisitely renovated and extended cottage, in its sublime location, is so admired by passing ramblers, cyclists and nature lovers that the owners regularly receive offers to purchase it. Just a few minutes from the Conservation Village of West Linton, a more perfect holiday cottage is hard to imagine.

West Linton is a thriving, peacable place and appears to have been so since the Bronze Age. No great or bloody events occured in West Linton, though this tiny town was visited by Edward I, James IV, Charles X of France and Rabbie Burns among others.
The local pub was once owned by James Wedderspuine, a conspirator in the shockingly violent murder of David Rizzio, secretary to Mary, Queen of Scots - and her alleged lover. That is West Linton's only claim to turbulence in its long, happy history.
